My "Audio" HD (2TB 7,200 RPM) is for audio samples, Logic Pro songs, VI plug-in updates, etc. The "Music" HD (500Gig 7,200 RPM) is for ripped CDs, so most of the files are each 25MB or so. Size of the files (images, fonts, etc.) can range from 50KB to 2 gigs). My "Work" HD (2TB 7,200 RPM) is mainly Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign files for my business.

I've kept my SSDs for the boot drive and the drives for my virtual instruments, which I'm not backing up to Cloud Station (will use Time Machine for my boot). Yeah, most of the files are going to be smallish, and there's a lot of them. Hi, Cont, thanks for the help, I'll take whatever I can get. *Edit: now has tanked to 150KB-400KB/sec. I'm hoping someone here might have some advice, experience with this situation, or tips for getting the most out of this NAS.

The only thing I can gather might be causing the slow transfer is the sheer amount of data, that it's individual files, and that it's coming from different drives that are in my MacPro (work files, music files, audio work, etc.). I've been searching through the Synology user forums, and they've been no real help, aside from confusing me more, lol. Looking at the current volume of the NAS disk as of this post, 963GB has been written. The backup has been going for almost 24hrs now, and the transfer speed has been between 2-5MB/sec*. The data is being pulled off of a 2008 Mac Pro (running El Cap) via a CAT5e (from modem -> latest Airport Extreme tower "router" LAN ports -> MPro & NAS). I started the process using Synology CloudStation. I started backing up 2TB of data to an ioSafe fireproof & waterproof NAS (it uses a Synology DSM mobo and OS) yesterday morning.
